Public Transportation

Amtrak permits bikes on selected trains, with reservations, for an additional fee.  Be sure to read Amtrak’s "Bring your bicycle onboard" page before you book.

The only train permitting bikes that goes directly to Saratoga Springs is the Ethan Allen Express, which runs from NYC to Saratoga once each day.  Bike reservations are limited, so book early.

There are multiple trains that permit bikes with stops in Albany (39 miles to Saratoga) or Schenectady (24 miles), including the Empire service, Maple Leaf, and Lake Shore Limited.  Look for a $20 bicycle “add on” on those trains.

You can take the 450 CDTA bus from Schenectady directly to downtown Saratoga Springs. The Schenectady Amtrak station is less than a half mile from the Gateway Mobility Center, where the 450 leaves roughly every half hour.  The bus costs $1.50 in exact bills or change.

If you want to ride from Albany or Schenectady, contact us at sfr@bikeatoga.org for advice on cycling routes.
