About
Peddling for a better future.
Bikeatoga, founded in 2005 by Ian Klepetar (as Saratoga Healthy Transportation Network), is dedicated to pushing for a better future by making functional cycling more inclusive, accessible, and safer in and around Saratoga Springs. Our volunteer members work to emphasize the environmental, economic, and health-related benefits of everyday cycling. By working together, we believe that we can create a safer, healthier, more vibrant, and more sustainable community.
We established and continue to run the Bikeatoga Workshop, a volunteer-run bicycle recycling program designed to repair used bikes and get them back on the streets.
Bikeatoga advocates and supports safety for all modes of transportation by the development of bike lanes, paths, and traffic-calming infrastructure that connects local neighborhoods, schools, workplaces and our downtown. We also strive to educate the general public about the rights and responsibilities of motorists, cyclists & pedestrians.
Bikeatoga and its members have been instrumental in the establishment and adoption of a Complete Streets policy in the City of Saratoga Springs, as well as a Safe Routes to School Program in Saratoga Springs School District.
Bikeatoga founded the Saratoga Bike to Work Challenge. This event has spread throughout the Capital District, and is now sponsored by The Capital District Transportation Committee.
Bikeatoga is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where all board members, staff, volunteers, and members feel respected and valued regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation or identity, disability, education, or any other bias.
