Freedom Machines NY Closes Operation – Donates Bikes and Equipment to Bikeatoga

Freedom Machines NY has closed its operation as of February 2024. Freedom Machines NY was established in 2016 in Glens Falls as a 501c3, focused on freely providing bicycles and valuable volunteer opportunities to people recovering from addictions to drugs and alcohol.

After struggling to attract volunteers to support their mission the operators of Freedom Machines NY have ceased operations. While it was sad to see the Freedom Machine operation end, they should be very proud of their accomplishments over the years in helping those in recovery find freedom on a free bike. Their moto “These Chains Will Set You Free” told the story of rebuilding lives, reclaiming futures and regaining independence.

Freedom Machines has generously donated the majority of their bikes, equipment and parts to Bikeagota. A group of Bikeatoga volunteers made 3 trips up to Glens Falls to meet with Freedom Machines volunteers and to collect and transport bikes, repair stands, tables, tires and parts to the Bikeatoga bike workshop. A total of 36 bikes were donated to Bikeatoga. These bikes will be refurbished by our volunteers and be available for adoption by the Saratoga and surrounding communities when the Bikeatoga workshop opens in April.
